Woman wounded in hail of gunfire, just a block from last week’s mother-and-child shooting scene

Lightning illuminated the crime scene Tuesday night as Philadelphia Police investigated the shooting of a 33-year-old woman near the corner of 10th and Brown Streets in North Philadelphia.

The woman, who was shot in the arm, may have been an innocent bystander rather than the intended target, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small at the scene.

Fourteen 9mm shell casings littered the street and detectives were checking if a nearby surveillance camera may have recorded the incident.

Last week, a 36-year-old woman and her 15-year-old son were both reported in stable condition after they were struck by stray bullets during a drive-by shooting just a block from Tuesday night’s scene.
