The call for shots fired in the area of 2500 Ridge Ave. came over police radio just after 1 a.m. Thursday morning, followed by a call to assist an officer who was chasing a man on foot. Police caught their suspect around 1800 North Taney Street but one winded officer reported on radio that the man tossed a gun while he was being chased. Another officer soon located the weapon — and there is one less gun on the street today.
