Reports: Three homicides among seven shootings Monday in Philadelphia

Photo by Joe Kaczmarek. reports: Cops said the victim, a man who remained unidentified just before midnight, was shot several times throughout the body and head on Cumberland Street near 10th around 11 p.m. Police rushed the man to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:25 p.m.

NBC10 says the victim was shot six times, once in the head, twice in the arm and three times in the legs. 6ABC adds that Philadelphia police are searching for five people who fled the scene.

After another shooting near South StreetNBC10 reported that a 24-year-old had been riding his bike near 4th and Gaskill when he was approached by two men around 11:45 p.m. They say an argument ensued and one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the victim twice in the back. reported that the victim was hospitalized in critical condition at Jefferson University Hospital, where he was undergoing surgery around midnight.

Earlier, reported another shooting in the Mantua section of West Philadelphia that left a 20-year-old man hospitalized in stable condition Monday night, police said. Shots were fired on 32nd Street near Haverford Avenue around 10:05 p.m. and the victim was wounded in his left leg and right hand.

Monday afternoon, 6ABC reported one man dead after an afternoon shooting in Philadelphia’s Germantown section. Officials say a 27-year-old man was shot once in the chest on the street.

Altogether, @UnPhiltered @PhillyDailyNews reports: There were seven shootings Monday and three of them were homicides.

Meanwhile, @morganzalo@PhillyDailyNews tweeted that police had arrested a suspect in the murder of Naasir Westbrook, covered last week in this #GunCrisis video report.

Late reports yesterday indicated that police were also preparing a warrant for a suspect in the shooting death of Maurice Kimble, outside the PYT restaurant, near the Piazza at Schmidt’s in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia.
