This summer’s heat wave has brought the feared spike in homicides, especially murders by gun. The spasm of violence is both shocking and distressingly familiar, and Radio Times joins the voices searching for new and effective means of discussing and diminishing the rates of violent deaths ending lives and shattering communities in Philadelphia. On today’s Radio Times, two people working to respond to that violence join us in studio. SCOTT CHARLES is the Trauma Outreach Coordinator at Temple University Hospital, and runs the Cradle to Grave Program. JIM MacMILLAN is a longtime digital journalist, Swarthmore Journalist in Residence and co-founder of the Gun Crisis: Philadelphia project, an open-source reporting community intended to address the epidemic of homicide by gunfire in Philadelphia. And we’ll hear from YVONNE BUNCH, aPrevention and Community Coordinator with Delaware’s Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families, about the First State’s response to gun violence this summer in Wilmington.
