This morning, Officer Moses Walker Jr. would ordinarily be taking his place in the pews at Deliverance Evangelistic Church in North Philadelphia, according to this morning’s Philadelphia Inquirer:

But Walker will be missing from the church on Sunday and his congregation will be in mourning. The 40-year-old officer was shot and killed early Saturday on his way home from work.

The Associated Press reports that it had been a violent night in Philadelphia even before Walker was killed, bringing more national and international coverage.

Locally, NBC10 has compiled reports on the four Philadelphia Police officers lost this year, and 6ABC has a video report on recent line-of-duty deaths.

6ABC also spoke with the slain officer’s family and colleagues for this video report, and both 6ABC and NBC10 have video coverage from the scene yesterday.
