Neighbors came out to pay their respects along Lehigh Avenue in North Philadelphia Sunday afternoon, for a solemn procession in remembrance of Philadelphia Police officer Moses Walker, Jr.
Fellow officers placed Walker’s flag-draped casket into a horse-drawn caisson for the slow walk to Deliverance Evangelistic Church, about a mile away.
Walker was shot to death after leaving work eight days earlier, during an apparent robbery.
He was the fourth Philadelphia Police officer to be killed off duty this year, and was the third person shot to death in Philadelphia during that overnight.
After attending the viewing at the church, police officials announced that the second of two suspects sought in connection with the murder had just been taken into custody in Alabama.
Officer Walker was laid to rest Monday morning.
