#GunCrisis honors: Tara Murtha named Ochberg Fellow with the Dart Center at Columbia

Tara Murtha of the GunCrisis Reporting Project and the Philadelphia Weekly has been named among recipients of the prestigious 2012 Dart Center Ochberg Fellowship by the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

The Ochberg Fellowships were established in 1999 by the Dart Center for journalists seeking to deepen their reporting of traumatic events. Fellowships are awarded to outstanding mid-career journalists in all media who have specialized in covering violence, conflict and tragedy, including such issues as street crime, family violence, natural disasters, war and genocide.

In 2012 and 2011, Murtha was honored with the Distinguished Writer award by the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association.

GunCrisis.org teammate Jim MacMillan was a 2007 Ochberg Fellow.
