#GunCrisis Solution of the Day: Spreading stray bullet risk awareness

The Bullet Free Sky campaign is a non-profit effort to raise awareness about the dangers of celebratory gunfire and negligent gun use.

The site was founded by family members after 12-year-old Diego Duran was struck in the head by a stray bullet while watching fireworks from his own front yard in Ruskin, Florida.

According to bulletfreesky.com, bullets can travel up to 3 miles from where they were shot, depending on the caliber of the gun.

Investigators concluded the .45 caliber bullet came from up to 1.5 miles away. Diego was rushed to the hospital, where he spent many months in intensive care. After multiple surgeries, medical procedures, and therapy; he’s finally back home.

Our mission is to educate people and to create world-wide awareness of the dangers of Celebratory Gunfire and the dangers of negligent gun use. We believe that together, we can save lives.
