Mother shot to death in Southwest Philly, five year-old daughter wounded

Police said shots were fired at around 4:11 p.m., wounding the woman once in her chest. She was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and was pronounced dead at 4:32 p.m., police said. The child was taken to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and listed in stable condition as of 5:15 p.m. Police are unsure of what led to the shooting, and a description of the suspect was not immediately available.
