Last month, the Chicago Urban League convened a community forum seeking solutions to the violence that has led to double-digit victim totals in the city each weekend throughout the summer, according to thechicagocitizen.com.
Police called on the communities to partner with law enforcement. Community leaders voiced the need to work with parents and grandparents and others said that former gang leaders should be consulted.
CeaseFire Chicago Director Tio Hardiman, the forum’s moderator, added that the “brothers on the street shooting one another” have to have a seat at the table too.
