Police say they were responding to a report of shots fired inside a residence along the 3400 block of North Braddock Street when they discovered a 36-year-old woman on the street with two gunshot wounds to the shoulder, and a man with a gun.
According to 6ABC, officers demanded that the suspect drop the weapon, but the man refused. Police say he then moved in a threatening manner at the officers. CBS3 reported that three officers opened fire on the suspect, according to police.
Police said that one of the shots fired by the officers struck the suspect in the chest, according to philly.com. According to NBC10, police say the unidentified shooter allegedly got into an argument with the woman, his aunt, inside the home. At some point during the fight the man allegedly shot his aunt several times as other family members — including children — watched in horror.
In an unrelated Wednesday night incident, police say that a store owner shot and killed a robbery suspect on the 900 block of West Somerset Street shortly after 6 p.m.
