Six people were shot to death and four more were wounded in separate incidents over the span of 24 hours in Philadelphia, beginning around noon Saturday. Philly.com points out that three of the victims were killed within an hour early Sunday morning.
A 26-year-old man was pronounced dead just after noon Saturday, after he was shot to death in a basement on the 1700 block of West Erie Avenue in the Tioga section of the city just after noon Saturday. On Sunday, detectives found another dead man at the scene.
Shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday night, a 17-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene after he was shot on the 2000 block of South Croskey Street in the Girard Park section of South Philadelphia. CBS3 reports that the victim was shot in the head.
Just after midnight, another 17-year-old boy was shot in the buttocks in the area of 1700 Cecil B. Moore Avenue in North Philadelphia and was later reported in stable condition at Hahnemann University Hospital.
A 27-year-old man was reported in stable condition at Hahnemann after he was shot in the back and in the leg just before 2 a.m. Sunday in the area of 16th Street and Ridge Avenue in the Francisville section of North Philadelphia.
At about 2:30 a.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in the head in the area of 300 South 52nd Street in West Philadelphia and was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania a short time later. NBC10 has identified the victim as Victor Rodriguez.
A 45-year-old woman was shot multiple times while inside an SUV in the area of 3000 North 27th Street in the Allegheny West section of North Philadelphia shortly before 3 a.m. The victim drove about a block before before the vehicle struck an elementary school, and she was pronounced dead a short time later at Temple University Hospital. According to 6ABC, police believe the woman was targeted.
Just before 4 a.m., a 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at Einstein Medical Center after he was shot in the neck a short time earlier in the arew of 16th Street and Hunting Park Avenue in Nicetown
At about the same time, a 20-year-old man was shot in the arm in the area of 4th and York Streets in North Philadelphia and was reported in stable condition at Temple.
Finally, a 24-year-old man was reported in stable condition at Einstein after he was shot in the leg in the area of 5900 North Franklin Street in the Olney section of the city.
Another man was shot to death Friday morning.
