Wednesday: Round table discussion to examine gun violence as a public heath issue in Philadelphia

Philadelphia Councilman Kenyatta Johnson will host a round table discussion on gun violence Wednesday at noon at Philadelphia City Hall.

According to a press release today, “Councilman Johnson and a panel of experts from the fields of medicine, criminal justice and academia will discuss gun violence as it relates to public and mental health, strategies for reducing gun violence and a plan for action.”

The GunCrisis team had the opportunity to introduce public health strategies during a gun violence solutions round table at City Hall last summer, but this event event will bring leading experts to the forefront.

Johnson will be joined by Councilman Curtis Jones, Dr. Richard Berk of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Joel Fein from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Dr. Elizabeth Groff from Temple University Criminal Justice, Dr. John Rich from the Drexel University School of Public Health, Dr. Ralph Taylor from Temple Criminal Justice, Dr. Charles Williams from Drexel University and Diana Millner from the Stoneleigh Foundation.
