Mourning across Newtown

A child watched from a passing school bus while church services were underway Tuesday for James Mattioli, one of 20 children killed at the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting last week.

Pallbearers carried the child’s casket from the Saint Rose of Lima Church, while other mourners were overcome at services for Jessica Rekos. Both children were six years old.

A young girl dressed in black looked at a poinsettia; part of a small memorial outside of the church, while crowds gather at another memorial near the entrance of the school.

A group of Buddhist monks from numerous seminaries across Connecticut and New York were praying nearby. Another memorial has been growing in the center of Sandy Hook.

And employees from a local real estate company placed angels atop 26 Christmas trees, one for each of the victim for the victims.
