More than 1,000 people have now been killed with guns in the US since the Sandy Hook mass shooting

Three days ago, published this graphic illustrating the 919 people who had been killed by firearms in the U.S. since the mass shooting at the Sandy Hook Elemenraty School in Newtown, CT, 31 days earlier.

You can view an updated graphic and map of victims by city at, where the total — at the time of this post — stands at 1013, representing nearly 100 more lives lost in just three more days. Slate is employing the @GunDeaths Twitter feed to update the death toll.
