Two adults and three children were found dead with apparent multiple gunshot wounds at a house near Albuquerque on Saturday evening, according to the BBC.

The Guardian points out: The incident comes just days after President Barack Obama outlined his plan to curb America’s culture of gun violence, following the massacre last month of 20 children and six adults at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. 

According to a report in Australia: Aaron Williamson, a spokesman for the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, said “multiple” weapons were found at the scene, including a “military-type assault rifle,” adding that the investigation was still under way.

The boy faces murder and other charges, according to an AP report in The Hindu.

Iranian PressTV adds that American media have widely reported that gun sales in the nation have drastically surged in the aftermath of the Connecticut school shooting in anticipation of possible laws that would restrict the sale of assault rifles, widely used in mass killings across the US. 

The Telegraph says that the suspect, who local media reported as 15-years-old, was arrested following the shootings which took place on Saturday night.

According to Sky News: Police said in a statement they had found the bodies of an adult male, an adult female, two girls and a boy – all dead from multiple gunshot wounds – when they arrived at an Albuquerque home late on Saturday.

The identities of the suspect and the victims have not been made public, according to Agence France Presse.

Russia Today added that the juvenile was arrested and charged with two counts of murder and three counts of child abuse resulting in death.
