Shopkeeper kills armed robber Tuesday evening in Tacony, according to police

A 50-year-old store owner shot an killed an armed robber inside his deli on the 4400 block of Princeton Avenue in the Tacony section of Philadelphia at about 6 p.m. Tuesday evening, according to police. The shopkeeper’s wife was also in the store at the time.

Officials say that the robber fired first, when the owner returned fire and killed the gunman, who was pronounced dead on location.

The gun battle took place just a few blocks from the House of Jin Chinese restaurant, at Longshore Avenue and Tulip Street, where the owner was shot and killed during a robbery just a little more than a year ago.
