Loved ones gather to remember shooting victim Stacey Berry

Stacey Berry VigilFamily members came together Saturday night for a vigil in memory of Stacey Berry, 31, on the spot where he was shot to death Tuesday afternoon, on Duncannon Avenue near 15th Street in the Logan section of Philadelphia. Photographs for the GunCrisis Reporting Project by Joseph Kaczmarek.

Stacey Berry VigilRelatives described Berry as a loving husband and father to his children, including 10-year-old twins, a 6-year-old and a 6-month-old.

Some had traveled from as far as Atlanta, GA, for Berry’s funeral on Good Friday.

Lateefal Berry, the victim’s mother said “He was a devoted father who always put his family first.”

Lonnie Paul, who called Berry his best friend, stood atop a car and lead the crowd of about 90 people in a prayer before asking them to simultaneously release balloons into the sky at dusk. After watching the balloons fade into the distance, mourners lit candles and placed them beside a sidewalk memorial before going home.

Berry was the third man found shot to death in Philadelphia in less than 24 hours last week.
