Weekend gun violence outbreak leaves three dead and eight wounded across Philadelphia


Three people were killed and eight more were wounded — three critically — in 11 shooting incidents reported across Philadelphia this weekend.

A 54-year-old man was reported in critical condition after he was shot in the back in the area of East Clearfield and F Streets in the Kensington section of Philadelphia Friday night.

Two men were listed in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after incidents in West Philadelphia early Saturday morning: A 20-year-old man was shot in the head in the area of 41st and Parrish Streets just after midnight, and a 25-year-old man was shot multiple times in the area of Haverford Avenue and 51st Street less than two hours later.

A 42-year-old man was shot and killed at North 7th and West Venango Streets in Hunting Park at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, and a 36-year-old man was wounded in the same incident.

A 30-year-old man was reported in stable condition at Temple University Hospital after he was shot twice Saturday night in the area of 2500 West Oakdale Street in North Philadelphia.

The body of a young woman was found on the 3200 block of North Bailey Street in the Allegheny West section of Philadelphia Sunday morning, after having suffered gunshot wounds.

Police rushed a 24-year-old man to Temple University Hospital after he was shot in the chest on the 3000 block of Frankford Avenue in Kensington Sunday afternoon. A 24-year-old man was shot in the leg in the area of Locust and Crowson Streets in Germantown at about 5 p.m. Sunday.

Police shot and killed a man they say pointed a gun at officers Sunday night in the area of 1500 Arrott Street in the Frankford section of Philadelphia.

A 37-year-old man was shot multiple times on the 3400 block of North Lee Street at about 12:30 a.m. Monday. A 19-year-old man was shot in the hand on the 7000 block of Buist Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia.
