President Obama returns to Connecticut to speak on gun violence prevention; police grab man they say pointed rifle-like BB gun at motorcade

President Barack Obama spoke on reducing gun violence Monday night at the University of Hartford, calling on Congress to pass common-sense measures to reduce gun violence.

UPDATE: As President Obama’s motorcade was returning to Bradley International Airport,  police arrested a man they say pulled out a rifle-like BB gun, acording to the Associated Press.

Before the event, Obama met families who lost loved ones in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting last December. After the speech, he brought 12 family members back to Washington on Air Force One to meet with senators.

The families’ lobbying trip was organized by Sandy Hook Promise, a nonprofit group started by community members in the wake of the shooting.
