According to police, officers responded to a 911 call at 11:20 p.m. and found a woman fatally wounded on the ground outside the driver’s door of a Chevy Tahoe and a man who had been killed in the passengers seat, at the corner of East Gurney and North Swanson Streets in the Kensington section of Philadelphia.
Each of the victims, described as being in their 30s, had been shot multiple times and both were pronounced dead on location by Philadelphia Fire Department medics.
Police said that a young child had been seated in the back of the SUV and witnessed the violent crime but was not physically injured. A neighbor who witnessed the aftermath said that the child appeared to be about eight years old.
As police investigated, a small group of people who said they knew the murdered woman were sobbing as they watched from across the crime scene tape.
Police said that the shots appeared to have been fired at close range, according to philly.com, adding that casings were found within feet of the victims’ bodies.
According to 6ABC, both victims were shot multiple times in the upper torso and pronounced dead at the scene.
The gunman was last seen fleeing the scene down the 2800 block of Swanson Street, according to NBC10.
