5 year-old found alone in car with gunPolice were responding to a 911 call for a report of gunshots in the area of East Clearfield and Boudinot Streets at about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday when they noticed the child in the front seat of a Buick with no adults nearby.

According to police, they opened the unlocked car door and found a loaded .44 magnum revolver lying on the front seat floor.

According to 6ABC, police said the mother of a 6-year-old left the child and gun in the car. CBS3 added that police took her to East Detectives for questioning.

Two neighborhood children — who were not involved in the incident — watch the police investigation from a nearby stoop as a small crowd of onlookers gathers around the crime scene.
