Ringgold Street Double Shooting/HomicideAccording to police, they received a call for gunshots at around 10:40 p.m. and found both victims lying on the sidewalk on South Ringgold Street, near Tasker and 24th Streets.

Police said that a 35-year-old man was shot numerous times in the back and was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The surviving 22-year-old victim was was shot in the buttocks and reported in stable condition at HUP.

Police said that least nine shots were fired on the block, according to a Philadelphia Daily News report. According to 6ABC, police were trying to determine if an argument caused a gunman to open fire.

Five more people were wounded in additional overnight incidents as this week’s violent outbreak continued. Four more people were shot, one fatally, early Thursday morning in Philadelphia, and another man was killed in a double shooting Wednesday night.

Police officers shot three men, one fatally, in confrontations with gun suspects Wednesday. Eighteen shooting victims were reported over the holiday weekend in Philadelphia.
