Last weekend: ‘A Game of Peace’

Last weekend, Philadelphia CeaseFire organized “A Game of Peace” at the MLK Recreation Center — and more community events are scheduled this weekend.

Join a peace march beginning at 9 a.m. tomorrow and stick around for the family fun day at the Myers Recreation Center at 5800 Chester Avenue.

U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and State Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams (D-Pa.) will open the Summer of Peace 2013 (and hold a media availability at 9:30AM.)

Plans for the day include starting a summer-long basketball tournament — at 9:30 a.m. –mentoring workshops on conflict resolution, peace mediation and anger management, as well as swimming, games and a free lunch.

Tonight, One Day at a Time is scheduled to meet the District Attorney‘s team from 6-8 p.m. at 2100 Cecil B. Moore Avenue. On Saturday, ODAAT is planning a peace march and talent and comedy show from 4-7:30 p.m. at 2400 West Lehigh Avenue.
