Officers from the 14th District responded to a radio call for a shooting around 12:15 a.m. and located the wounded 45-year-old man lying on the sidewalk on East Wister Street near Germantown Avenue, according to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.
Medics arrived and pronounced the man dead on location, police said. A steady stream of friends and relatives of the victim gathered around the scene and watched closely as investigators collected evidence around the man’s body.
Come back this afternoon for a complete report on overnight gun violence.
