TK2lAccording to police, two men wanted in connection with numerous crimes in the city opened fire as a task force of Philadelphia Police and FBI agents arrived on the 200 block of East Montana Street. The authorities were acting on a tip that the men were in the area.

Sources told the Philadelphia Daily News that Tevin Hammond, 21, was killed in the ensuing exchange of gunfire and that Justin Mackie, 19, was hospitalized with six gunshot wounds, adding that both men were wanted in a string of murders and shootings around the city.

Mackie was wanted in connection with a fatal shooting last week at 23d and Jefferson Streets in North Philadelphia, according to a Philadelphia Inquirer report in which sources indicated both men were also sought in the shooting of a 53-year-old cab driver last month.
