Weekend updates: Shooting incidents reported in Philadelphia and across region

Police Involved ShootingPolice say that the 22-year man fled as officers approached and then turned towards the them with a gun in his hand. Officers opened fire and wounded the man, according to police.

The suspect fell to the ground and dropped his loaded gun, which was recovered at the scene according to 6ABC. According to a report from CBS3, police discovered a second loaded firearm in the suspect’s waistband when he arrived at the hospital.

The man’s relatives could be hear crying out loud as police searched for evidence at the incident scene on the 5700 block of Lansdowne.

Police said that the officers were initially responded to a fight, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Police were also investigating a fatal shooting in West Philadelphia early Saturday, according to another Philadelphia Daily News report, which says that police found the victim on Filbert Street near 59th at about 12:40 a.m., suffering from two gunshot wounds to the chest and one in the stomach.

Police in Norristown, Montgomery County, say that an unidentified man was shot multiple times around midnight on the 200 block of East Oak Street, according to CBS3. The gunman fled and the victim was hospitalized in critical condition.

Lower Merion police are investigating an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven store at City and Haverford Avenues around 5:00 a.m. Sunday, according to 6ABC. No injuries were reported. In Berks County, a Wernersville man was killed Saturday night after a shootout with Western Berks Regional Police officers in the borough.

A shooting victim in Lancaster city was being treated for non-life threatening injuries following an incident at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, according to lancasteronline.com. Police in Atlantic City, NJ, were investigating shots fired Sunday afternoon, according to pressofatlanticcity.com.
