Weekend update: Gunfire leaves one dead and nine wounded in Philadelphia

Ten men were gunned down across the city of Philadelphia this weekend, including one fatal shooting incident and three which left victims in critical condition. Media reports indicate that one suspect was captured, while community groups held anti-violence events across the city and additional shooting incidents broke out across the region.

Two men were wounded in a shooting incident Saturday afternoon in the area of West Indiana Avenue and North 4th Street in the Fairhill section of the city. According to a report from 6ABC, both victims were treated at Temple University, including a 30-year-old man who was reported in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds and a 25-year-old man who was stable with a leg wound.

Police rushed a 24-year-old gunshot victim to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Sunday afternoon, where he was reported in critical condition following an incident reported in the are of 46th Street and Springfield Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia.

A 20-year-old man was reported in critical condition at Jefferson University Hospital after he was shot in the back Sunday afternoon on South Ringgold Street, not far from 24th and Wharton Streets in there King Village section of South Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Daily News reports that a suspect was captured by police after he was struck by a car while fleeing the scene.

Police rushed a 19-year-old man to Hahnemann University Hospital after he was shot in the foot at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of 19th and Master Streets, near Girard College in North Philadelphia.

CBS3 reported on anti-violence advocates who marched through North Philadelphia Sunday. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on two ceremonies held Saturday to honor Philadelphia Police officers who have been wounded or killed down in the line of duty.

The Philadelphia Daily News spoke with the mother of a woman who wants a bar shut down in the area where her daughter was killed by a stray bullet last year in the Nicetown section of the city.

Police in York, PA, are investigating the fatal shooting that took place early Saturday morning, according to pennlive.com.

A Philadelphia man was arrested after firing shots inside a Delaware home early Sunday, according to NBC10FOX 29 reports that Wilmington, DE, police are also investigating a Friday afternoon shooting.

In Cumberland County, NJ, state police say they are investigating a shooting that left four people wounded this weekend, according to a report from FOX29. Meanwhile, the city of Trenton, NJ, is on track to surpass its deadliest year on record, according to an Associated Press report, adding that homicides in the city have spiked with police staffing at its lowest level in recent memory.
