City Paper: “A decade of war” in a corner of Philadelphia’s Strawberry Mansion

A report in this week’s Philadelphia City Paper looks into the 10-year conflict in one corner of the city’s Strawberry Mansion neighborhood, which has suffered at least 150 shooting incidents and 30 murders in the area of just about one-tenth of a square mile:

“My son was shot twice in the head, right there,” says the middle-aged man standing at the corner of Stanley and Huntingdon, gesturing to a point a few blocks away. “Yeah, he made a full recovery. He’s just blind in one eye.” The motive for the shooting last October was “bullshit,” the man says.
