Off-Duty Officer Shot

Police gather (outside the emergency room of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania) on the 7500 block of Haverford Avenue on Sunday March 2, 2014, in the Overbrook Park section of Philadelphia, after an off-duty Philadelphia police officer was shot during an attempted robbery as he returned home from work. Ofc. Robert Penn, 46, was coming home from his shift when he got out of his car on Brentwood Road near Haverford Avenue around 12:09 a.m. and was approached by a man who mumbled something unclear and then shot Penn once in his right shoulder and ran down a nearby alley, said Philadelphia Police spokesman Lt. John Stanford. GunCrisis.org/ Joseph Kaczmarek
