Daily Report: 07.16.14 — Shootings leave seven wounded, three critically

While covering efforts to end gun violence for the latest episode of Our America, Lisa Ling met with PJ, a 13-year-old girl who lost an eye to a stray bullet last year in North Philadelphia. The staff of the Gun Crisis Reporting Project started collaborating with the documentary crew producing the program almost 16 months ago, and we also visited PJ when she got first got home from the hospital, but she was still feeling camera shy.

Seventh shooting victim reported

A 28-year-old man suffered a graze wound during a shooting incident report just before midnight Wednesday on Lansdowne Avenue near 57th Street in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia. Six more people were shot across the city earlier Wednesday.

Two men critically wounded in North Philadelphia

A 23-year-old man and a 27-year-old man were both listed in critical condition at Temple University Hospital following a shooting Wednsday night on West Cumberland Street near North Lawrence Street in North Philadelphia. We will have a full report in the morning.

Man shot in Kensington

Police rushed a 19-year-old man to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition after he was shot twice, just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, on D Street near East Clearfield Street in the Kensington section of Philadelphia.

Two men shot near rec center

Two young men were wounded in a shooting incident reported late Wednesday afternoon near the Simons Community Recreation Center, on East Walnut Lane at Rodney Street in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia.

Police rushed an 18-year-old man to Einstein Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. Medics rushed a 19-year-old to Einstein, where he was in stable condition.

Man wounded overnight: A 21-year-old man was in stable condition after he was shot in the leg around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday on East Tulpehocken Street near Mansfield Avenue in the West Oak Lane section of Philadlephia.
