Global media focus on latest US mass shooting after teen kills five, including three children, Saturday in New Mexico

Two adults and three children were found dead with apparent multiple gunshot wounds at a house near Albuquerque, NM, on Saturday evening. The incident comes just days after President Barack Obama outlined his plan to curb America’s culture of gun violence, following the massacre last month of 20 children and six adults at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut.

More than 1,000 people have now been killed with guns in the US since the Sandy Hook mass shooting

Three days ago, nationalpost.com published this graphic illustrating the 919 people who had been killed by firearms in the U.S. since the mass shooting at the Sandy Hook Elemenraty School in Newtown, CT, 31 days earlier.

You can view an updated graphic and map of victims by city at slate.com, where the total — at the time of this post — stands at 1013, representing nearly 100 more lives lost in just three more days. Slate is employing the @GunDeaths Twitter feed to update the death toll.
